Video: “Glute Bridges | How To | Proper Form & Technique” by FITTR on YouTube. Plays in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode.
How to do it
A simple floor exercise that strengthens your glutes and the backs of your thighs. It's a good first step before harder hip exercises.
- Lie on your back with your knees bent, feet flat and hip-width apart, arms by your sides.
- Brace your stomach and press through your heels to lift your hips.
- Stop when your shoulders, hips and knees form a straight line, and squeeze your glutes.
- Lower slowly back to the floor.
Tips and safety
- Push through your heels rather than your toes.
- Don't arch your lower back at the top; the lift comes from your hips.
- For more challenge, hold the top for three seconds or try it on one leg.
Move within a comfortable range and stop if you feel pain. If you have an injury or health condition, check with a qualified professional first.
