Side-Lying Leg Raise

Beginner Ankle weight Glutes

Video: “Side Lying Leg Raise | Glute Activation Exercise” by Elite Chiropractic and Performance on YouTube. Plays in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode.

How to do it

A side-lying leg lift for the muscles at the side of your hip. Add an ankle weight once it feels easy. Do the reps on one side, then switch.

  1. Lie on your side with your legs straight and stacked, head resting on your arm.
  2. Keep your hips stacked and your top toes pointing forward.
  3. Lift your top leg to about hip height, then lower it slowly.

Tips and safety

  • Don't roll your hips backwards as you lift.
  • Start without an ankle weight.

Move within a comfortable range and stop if you feel pain. If you have an injury or health condition, check with a qualified professional first.
