Video: “How to do an Incline Push-Up | Proper Form & Technique | NASM” by National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) on YouTube. Plays in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode.
How to do it
A push-up with your hands raised on a bench or sturdy table, which makes it easier while you build up to floor push-ups.
- Place your hands on the edge of a stable bench, slightly wider than your shoulders.
- Step your feet back until your body forms a straight line from head to heels.
- Bend your elbows to lower your chest towards the bench.
- Press back up to straight arms.
Tips and safety
- The higher the surface, the easier it is. A wall works too.
- Make sure the bench can't slide.
Move within a comfortable range and stop if you feel pain. If you have an injury or health condition, check with a qualified professional first.
