Video: “How To: Alternating Standing Knee Raise” by Live Lean TV Daily Exercises on YouTube. Plays in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode.
How to do it
A standing core exercise. Lifting your knees works your stomach and hips and improves balance, with no need to lie on the floor.
- Stand tall with your hands on your hips or lightly holding a chair.
- Brace your stomach and lift one knee towards your chest.
- Lower it slowly and lift the other knee.
- Keep alternating at a steady pace.
Tips and safety
- Don't lean back as you lift.
- Breathe out each time your knee comes up.
- Hold each lift for two seconds to make it harder.
Move within a comfortable range and stop if you feel pain. If you have an injury or health condition, check with a qualified professional first.
